SECOND TRIMESTER RECAP
When they tell you it gets better during your first trimester, know it truly does get better (for most). It was almost immediate that I woke up on the first day of my second trimester feeling so much better. I had more energy, food didn’t gross me out, I no longer felt that hungover (without even having one sip of alcohol) feeling. It was great. The second trimester has definitely been my favorite so far – haha! Here are some most asked questions:
BEST PART OF SECOND TRIMESTER?
FEELING LIKE A HUMAN AGAIN! That mixed with feeling baby flutters later on is an incredible feeling. This has been such an enjoyable part of pregnancy and I’m so thankful!
WORST PART OF SECOND TRIMESTER?
Watching your body change and not being able to fit into my clothes. It sounds selfish and unappreciative but it’s true. I am SO thankful to be growing this little human but gosh it is TOUGH on your body and the image you have of your body. That being said I have also gained SUCH an appreciation of my body and all that it can do. Every week I wake up and I’m like “oh my gosh this baby is growing EYELASHES because of me” and that’s just a really cool thing.
DO YOU HAVE A NAME PICKED OUT?
We have significantly narrowed our list down but we have not officially made the decision. It changes every week! This is by far the hardest decision I’ve ever had to make! Even so, we don’t plan on announcing until birth.
WHAT IS SOMETHING UNEXPECTED FROM YOUR SECOND TRIMESTER?
This is the trimester of learning for us. Zach and I have done so much research on the best baby products, best pediatricians in our area, we’ve gone to try out strollers and car seats, etc. I don’t think we will ever feel “ready” but we are definitely TRYING to do our part in getting ready this trimester!
I think we were also really shocked at how EXPENSIVE having a baby is/will be. From doctors bills, to nursery furniture, to one million onesies… it adds up!
WILL YOU HAVE A BABY SHOWER?
Yes! We are having a shower next month and I’m so excited. We decided to do a baby shower/ house warming couples party with our closest friends and family. It will be so special and I’m so excited.
ANY WEIRD CRAVINGS?
No! I fully expected to crave pickles dipped in ice cream based on stories I’ve heard from others but I haven’t really had any weird cravings so far. I have definitely noticed an increase in appetite towards the end of the second trimester though and all the bad foods sound best (unfortunately) haha.
Cravings wise I have craved cold deli sandwiches, apple caramel lollipops, Caesar salads, and sparkling water.
WHAT ARE YOU MOST LOOKING FORWARD TO NEXT TRIMESTER?
Meeting our sweet girl! I am over the moon excited. I’m also really excited to be in the final stretch of pregnancy. It hasn’t been awful but it hasn’t been the most fun either. Either way I’m super grateful!
