I’m a firm believer that there’s a time and place for saving money, and for me, purchasing basics for my closet is not necessarily one of those times. I tend to spend a little extra on the items that I know I will take with me season to season and less on the trendier pieces. I think it’s incredibly important to purchase a few good basics per season that you don’t need to replaces each and every year (hence why it’s ok, in my opinion, to spend a little extra!)
BACK TO THE BASICS
1. White sneaker– white sneakers can be dressed up with a midi dress and dressed down with distressed jeans and a band tee. I think they’re so versatile and perfect for when the weather is slightly cooling down and you don’t necessarily want to wear open-toed shoes!
2. Black sunnies– just because it’s fall doesn’t mean you shouldn’t snag some sunnies for those bright Fall afternoons! I love a good pair of chunky sunglasses in the Fall whereas I tend to wear thinner framed glasses in the Spring/ Summer.
3. Basic closed-toe bootie– linking a few of my favorites below! So good for all seasons!
4. Simple black cami– love that this one has lace across the chest for an elevated look. These camis are perfect for Fall in the South because they’re great for layering and you can easily take off your layers in the Fall day is on the hotter side!
5. Classic dark-washed skinny jean– I’m a BIG fan of distressed denim, but it’s so important to have a couple clean, non-distressed pairs as well. They look classic and makes any outfit more together.
6. Over the knee bootie– I own and LOVE these OTK boots. This brand is amazing for OTK boots, especially if you have smaller calves and struggle with booties that slide down throughout the day. I love to wear these with cute Fall dresses/ skirts.
7. Suede skirt– this skirt just screams Fall! So cute!
8. Oversized t-shirt– this is my #1 because you can wear these tees year round and layer them easily. I love to front tuck a good tee into my jeans and top with a cardigan/ leather jacket. I also love them over biker shorts with sneakers. Too good and so important.
9. Open-front cardigan– so many options for this one so I included a few of my favorites below! So cute over anything and everything. Also super nice to throw in your purse for errands/ movie theater dates/ etc.
10. Faux leather leggings– do I even need to explain?! I wear mine ALL THE TIME throughout the Fall and Winter because they are so incredibly flattering and warm! I’ve worn them with a T-shirt and baseball cap and I’ve also worn them with an oversized sweater and strappy heels. Extremely versatile and a perfect Fall closet staple.
11. Elevated bodysuit– I’m not going to lie, I was late to the bodysuit game because who wants to have to undo clasps all the time to use the restroom?! But I get all the hype now because they look so clean with a pair of pants. It’s a great way to elevate a normally simple outfit.
