I get a lot of questions about my hair- what salon I go to, products I use, how I curl it… etc. So I thought I would do a broad overview on all things hair to hopefully answer most, if not all of your questions.
Salon– I go to Voss Salon in Dallas, TX where Brittaney Prince works her magic! I ask for natural highlights (no streaks!!!) and a very light shadow root. I like to have a little bit of a root because it helps by not making the grow-out so harsh between visits. Brittaney usually tones my hair each visit to remove a lot of the copper tones that appear between visits. I rarely cut my hair. I used to cut it every other visit but since moving I cut it about every 6 months or so.
Shower Products– I use this shampoo and this conditioner most days. I have just recently (oops) stopped using cheap drugstore products and started spending a little bit more when it comes to the overall health of my hair. I use a purple shampoo on my hair twice a week. Purple shampoo is 100% crucial for blondes! This is what helps to tone the hair and eliminate copper-colored hair. I also deep condition my hair at least once a week with this mask– sometimes more if I have been tough on it that week.
Styling Products- when using hot tools on the hair, it is SO crucial to use heat-protectant products as well as strengthening products to help eliminate as much damage as possible. When I get out of the shower I lightly spray my hair with this mist to help detangle it. I haven’t used a de-tangler since I was 5, but I recently purchased this one and it’s awesome. Then I use a nickel-sized amount of this strengthening CC cream. This product has changed my hair for the better- it’s a 10-in-1 product that helps to smooth frizz, treat damaged hair, and restore softness (no joke it seriously is my favorite hair treatment). Once my hair is dry, I protect my hair by spraying this heat-protectant on it to act as a barrier before styling. Lastly after styling, I finish with this shine spray and/or this texturizer (depending upon how my hair is styled that day).
Styling Tools– I blow dry my hair with this blow dryer (pricey, but your hair is important and this is very easy-going on it!). I curl my hair with this curling wand. It has a 1-inch barrel which is necessary for my thin, straight hair to be able to hold a curl throughout the day. On the rare occasion that I straighten my hair, this is the straightener I use. I highly recommend Chi products because they last a lifetime.
Misc. Hair Info:
- I try and only use heat every other day (the rest of the days I wake up and put it in some sort of updo… pony-tails, braids, buns, etc).
- I recently got clip-in hair extensions for special events/ weekends. This is the brand that I got. I got the shade “honey butter” but should have gotten a lighter shade so that it would be easier to tone to match my hair color! The best part about this brand is that you can request 3-5 hair extension samples. They will mail you the samples and you can match them to your hair before ordering a full set. Life. Saver.
- I swear on taking Biotin for overall hair health. Talk to your doctor before taking (obviously) as it is a supplement, but every time I take it religiously it helps so much with strengthening my hair!
- This is the best dry shampoo I have ever used! I swear by it. I have used so many drugstore brands and they never help my hair like this one does!
- I am working on not washing my hair everyday- it’s actually extremely healthy to go a day (or a few!) in between washes. Water strips your hair of the essential oils it needs to stay healthy, so instead invest in a good dry shampoo between washes.
- Every now and then I use a leave-in hair mask… stays in for about 30 min… and it helps to add moisture to damaged hair.
